What are the different types of Applications?

Buttonwood gives you three options for how to set up applications depending on who needs to use it, how you are paying for it and how you would like to configure it.

The same application could be a Catalog, Corporate or Personal Application.

The information below covers the differences to help you choose:

Catalog Application

Most often used for SaaS applications.

  • is from the Buttonwood application list
  • can be assigned to one or many users
  • allows you to track expenditure through Buttonwood
  • will display on the Buttonwood workspace

Corporate Application

Most often used for intranets and other websites.

  • can be any application or website (does not need to be available from Buttonwood)
  • can be assigned to one or many users
  • doesn't track expenditure though Buttonwood (although this may be possible in the future)
  • will display on the Buttonwood workspace

Personal Application

Most often used to link to sites used by an individual such as job specific sites or personal banking sites

  • can be any application or website (does not need to be available from Buttonwood)
  • is only available to the individual user who created the link
  • doesn't track expenditure though Buttonwood (although this may be possible in the future)
  • will display on the Buttonwood workspace in the personal applications section
