Adding and Managing a Cost Centre

All expenditure in Buttonwood is recorded against a Cost Centre.  Cost centres can be established to track expenditure for particular areas or projects within your Organisation. You decide how best to organise for your organisation when you set up your cost centres. 

Organisation Administrators can add IaaS Cost Centres. 

To add an IaaS Cost Centre:

  • Navigate to the Manage Cost Centres page from the left hand navigation menu
  • Enter all mandatory fields (mandatory fields are marked with a *)

Name * – the name of the Cost Centre.

Code * – this can be used as a cross reference to a financial system.

Description – Record a helpful description of the Cost Centre

Cost Centre Owner * – select a User as the owner of the Cost Centre

Status – enabled or disabled

  • Click the OK button

Managing a Cost Centre

Organisation administrators and cost centre owners can view and update cost centre information.

To see and update cost centre information you can:

  1. Select My Cost Centres from the left hand navigation menu to list all cost centres that you own
  2. Select Manage Cost Centres from the left hand navigation menu to list all cost centres for your organisation

Once you have selected the list view you want you can click on the name, code or the ellipsis to access the Details

List of Cost Centres

You can see a list of all of Cost Centres on this page.
The list shows key information for each Cost Centre.
You can only remove a Cost Centre if no charges have been incurred against it.
Controls:

Start typing the name to reduce the list of Cost Centres

 

Reduce the list of applications by selecting only those that are Enabled, Disabled or Unconfigured

 

Click to add a new Cost Centre

 

Provides a drop down list of actions available for the individual Cost Centre

     View

View the Cost Centre Details

    Budgets

View a list of Budgets for this Cost Centre

     Charges

View a list of Charges for this Cost Centre

    Remove

Remove the Cost Centre (only if there are no charges)

List Navigation

Click this link to get more information on the number of records in list, moving between pages, sorting and ordering lists.

Cost Centres are ongoing whereas Budgets are only valid for a specific time period.

Cost Centre Details

You can view and update Cost Centre details on this page.
To edit Cost Centre details:

  1. Click the EDIT button
  2. Modify Cost Centre details
  3. Click the OK button to save your changes
