This article describes the steps required to configure VMware accounts within Buttonwood Cloud Analytics to enable processing of billing data from VMware vSphere.
Prerequisites
- Administrative access to the Analytics UI
- Registration of vCenter to a Broker instance within the same Buttonwood tenant - as vSphere does not generate billing data, usage rate cards are entered during the Broker registration of VMware vCenter servers
Configuration Steps
- Log in to the Analytics UI as an administrative user
- Navigate to Accounts
- A list of existing accounts is displayed
- From the Add menu, select VMware Account
- In the Choose VMware Subscription screen, select the vCenter server
Click Register - In the Add VMware account screen, enter the following details
- Cost Centre: Default Cost Centre for resources harvested from bills, which are not associated with a Broker Deployment
- All other fields are read-only fields extracted from the vCenter subscription to the Broker
- Click Add
- Access to the account is validated and bill harvesting will commence
It may take a while (up to a few hours) for bill harvesting to complete
