This article describes the steps required to configure VMware vSphere accounts within the Buttonwood Cloud Broker to enable workloads to be deployed, managed, and accessed in vSphere.
Prerequisites
- Administrative access to the Broker UI
- Creation of vSphere credentials, with the following details recorded
- vCenter Host
- vCenter Port
- vCenter Username
- vCenter Password
Configuration Steps
- Log in to the Broker UI as an administrative user
- Navigate to Admin > Accounts
- Select the VMware tab
Note: If the VMware tab doesn't appear, ensure that the required plugin is enabled - Click Add
- In the Register VMWARE Account screen, enter the following details
- Name: Name for this account
- vCenter Host: Hostname of the vCenter Server
- vCenter Port: HTTP port of the vCenter Server - usually 443
- Username: Username to access vCenter
- Password: Corresponding password
- Description: Description for this account
- Rate Card: Select the Basic Rate Card, enter the appropriate CPU, Memory, and Storage costs for your organisation
- Currency Code: Select the currency which the rate card is based
- Enable Chargeback/showback
- Checked: Usage stats based on the configured rate card are sent to Buttonwood Analytics to generate billing records
- Unchecked: Rate card information is used only to calculate deployments costs
- Click Add
- Perform an account test and inventory
