This article describes the steps required to configure regions within service provider accounts.
Many resources provided by service providers are regions specific, such as network settings and virtual machine image IDs. These resources must be configured or mapped to allow the Broker to use the resource within that region.
Note: For VMware, Data Centers are the equivalent management object as Regions.
Prerequisites
- Administrative access to the Broker UI
- Accounts have been added
Accessing Regions
- Log in to the Broker UI as an administrative user
- Navigate to Admin > Accounts
- Select the VMware tab
- A list of configured Accounts is displayed
- For the account to view, click on the Account name or the View button
- Select the Data Centers tab
- A list of configured Data Centers is displayed
Note: The region name is the name of the Data Centers as discovered within vCenter. - Click on the Region name or the View button to view details of the data centre
Details
The Details tab lists the details of the region.
The following data centre specific items are also configurable:
- Datastores: Specifies the datastores which can be used for deployments
- Hosts: Specifies the hosts which can be used for deployments
- Clusters: Specifies the clusters which can be used for deployments
Virtual Switches
The Virtual Switches tab lists the vSwitches and dvSwitches discovered for the selected data centre.
Click on a virtual switch name or the View button to manage the selected switch.
Refer to the article Configuring Service Provider Networks - VMware vSphere for details steps.
VLAN Mappings
The VLAN Mappings tab lists the network mappings to the selected data centre.
Click View to review and modify the selected mapping.
Click Map to create new network mappings for the selected network.
Refer to the article Configuring Environment Network Mappings for detailed steps in creating virtual machine mappings.
Templates
The Templates tab lists the configured Operating Systems and their mappings to virtual machine templates within the selected data centre.
Click Edit to review and modify the selected mapping.
Refer to the article Configuring Environment Operating System Mappings for detailed steps in creating operating system mappings.
Appliance Mappings
The Appliance Mappings tab lists the configured Appliances and their mappings to virtual appliance templates within the selected region.
Click Edit to review and modify the selected mapping.
Refer to the article Configuring Environment Appliance Mappings for detailed steps in creating appliance mappings.
Instances
The Instances tab lists virtual machines deployed to or discovered in the selected data centre.
Click the Instance name or the View button to view details about the instance.
Refer to the article Managing Cloud VMs for detailed steps in working with virtual machine instances.
Location
The Location tab allows administrators to manually specify physical the location of the data centre. This is reflected in the service provider region maps, such as on the Overview screen.
Click on the region of the map to specify the X and Y co-ordinates of the data centre location.
Optionally, enter the Region Path value, using the forward slash (/) delimeter - eg. /Asia Pacific/Australia/Canberra/On Premise. This allows the data centre to be included in regional settings, such as Region Policiies.
