KB - Appliance Error: "The guest operating system 'debian9_64Guest' is not supported"

Problem Description

After successfully deploying the Broker appliance OVA into a VMware vSphere 6.5 environment, the following error is displayed when attempting to power on the virtual appliance.

The guest operating system 'debian9_64Guest' is not supported.

Cause

The Virtual Machine hardware compatibility version is set to ESXi Version 5.5 and later (VM version 10).

Resolution

Upgrade the hardware compatibility version to ESXi Version 6.5 and later (VM version 13) and power on the appliance.
